Season 2011-2012

It’s not for the first time Novosibirsk Philharmonics holds the international festival “GuitART”. Until the present day, it was more of a chamber festival, but this time “GuitART-2012” – the jubilee project dedicated to the 75-anniversary of the philharmonics – promises to become one of the largest guitar festivals not only in Russia but beyond.

Dmitry Illarionov is the ideological and artistic director of the festival; he is one of the brightest and titled young classical guitar players of the world, who is called “an extra class virtuoso”.

The world level stars will perform on one stage with the professional collectives of the philharmonic society – these are classical guitarists of our time, world-renowned performers of Gipsy jazz, the most popular guitarist in the world, performing flamenco and other equally eminent guru of the guitar music.

Festival of modern music

Those who are interested in modern music, know very well the following names: J. Crumb, Y. Xenakis, A. Shoenber, B. Britten, A. Pyart, M. Nyman, F. Glas, P. Karmanov, V. Martynov, G. Pelecis

We only have to add that in the frames of the festival compositions of these composers will sound in interpretation of «Filarmonica» — quartet, Choir ensemble «Markell’s voices» and Chamber orchestra.

This project acquired a reputation as a real decoration of Novosibirsk artistic life. The festival is held once in 2 years. The highest quality of performers and collectives, difference of impressions: theatre plays, opera, ballet, exhibition, concerts. Novosibirsk Philharmonics traditionally presents a part of the Christmas festival.

In the days of autumn school vacation the Children — youthful philharmonia carries out a traditional annual festival where children's creative groups participate. The most different genres are united under the wing of the festival: from concert performances to shows. In the frame of the festival a traditional concert «Kids and animals» takes place, all gathering goes on the account of the Novosibirsk zoo (to maintain the Nile crocodile).

To the 300-year anniversary of Mikhail Vasilievitch Lomonosov

Annual festival of Russian music «Pokrov autumn» takes place in the days of Pokrov holiday of The Most Holy Mother of God. The main aim of the festival is propaganda of the best achievements of musical art of Russia. Each festival is dedicated either to the art of some composer, or to some important historical date.

The present festival is dedicated to the jubilee of a great Russian scientist Mikhail Lomonosov.

A significant place in festival programs is given to the art of Siberian composers. It is reasonable to remember a famous Lomonosov quote «The richness of Russia will increase by Siberia».

It is an original musical present of the philharmonic society to the guests and inhabitants of our city. Every year in the summer evenings during several days in succession the philharmonic groups perform on the open air before the Lenin House. From the stairs of the Lenin House the philharmonic society offers music, competitions, quizzes, and city dwellers have also added dances to the program of the festival. What to do, if in a friendly atmosphere under sounds of a wind band you necessarily will begin to whirl in a waltz? The final concert of the festival by tradition coincides with celebrating of the Day of city.
